RECAP CONVO
On this week's recap convo call with Gaius Charles (John), I inquired, as to why he took on the role of John? What exactly compelled him to play this amazing character? And more so, what is it like working with the cast? Wherefore, I'm pleased to report Gaius' gracious reply: "I wanted a strong role to play in this world. Fighting for good. To help and have the ability to shape the character, while having a lot of fun doing so." Needless to say, he has accomplished that goal in the role of John. And, "it's a Blessing" he stated, "to have a good rapport with the cast". For there are no big egos and as such among them.
Gaius also mentioned, "it's exciting for him to watch the show and how he really enjoyed the intelligence world's concept of the world in last night's episode and appreciates all the organic characters." I certainly concur. A generous shout out was extended to the Bloggers and Readers as he made reference to a specific Tweet, regarding the strong, female role played by Acclaimed Actress, Ayelet Zurer (Leah Wicker). Gaius also shared some incredible information, setting the scene, leading to the season finale, you won't want to miss on NBC, Monday, May 1st at 10/9C!
ABOUT LAST NIGHT
Furthermore, as multiple views were shared and expressed about last night's episode 08, season 01, "Leah", Monday, April 18, 2017, NBC, my thoughts are no doubt aligned; wherein, here's how I see it and say it about last night:
As often, Taken kicks-off with an intense BANG!! Bryan Mills (Clive Standen) meets Leah Wicker aka Skylark, a Mossad Israeli Intelligence Agent, who comes to Washington DC to receive help from Christiana Hart (Jennifer Beals); followed by an immediate and potential hostile attack, where Bryan stepped in and intercepted in the nick of time... Whew... that was a close call!
Moving on, I surely agree, "sometimes a best defense is offense" as John led the OPCON Team: Bryan, Rem (James Landry Hébert) and Scott (Michael Irby) to intercept another forthcoming hostile attack and reprimanded Leah for taking matters into her own hands by killing her attacker. Christiana met with an old friend, an Israeli Intelligence Director, over coffee and fine chocolate (mmm... an interesting combination worth trying). Leah told Bryan "he has a kind face". John, Bryan, Rem and Scott took a [not so quiet] trip to an Iranian college library; a remarkable, quick and quiet as kept, kick-butt scene. Bryan learns of Christina's health condition. Adding, I feel that John had the most commanding and riveting lines in this episode.
[Life Lesson] But, one line in last night's episode stood out above all else, in which, without question caught my attention: "I live my life on my own terms, you can be sure that I'm going to die on them on; on my favorite beach in Rotunda with Rose' and a good book"; except it got me thinking about the word of the Lord, as to just how much control does one have over one's life? For the Holy Bible proclaims, "A man's heart plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps". Proverbs 16:19. "There are many plans in a man's heart, Nevertheless the Lord’s counsel—that will stand". Proverbs 19:21.
I'm also reminded of a famous line taken from Forest Gump: "Mama always said, Life was like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get", such as the case for Christina being diagnosed with a possible Benign brain tumor and Leah diagnosed with early-stage of Alzheimer Disease. I sincerely appreciate and applaud the realistic issues reflected within the script.
And, if that's not enough to intrigue you, how about, a massive, explosive, twisted ending that will certainly please, shock and surprise you! Moreover, I enjoy the softer and warmer side of the characters. Indeed, Art imitates life in Taken: America, Israel and Iran relationships and something about a "kind face" is the thesis of my conclusion.
TAKEN AT GLANCE
The show is an all-out, action-packed based show, whereas, each week I cannot wait to eagerly tuned in and Tweet, as I'm instantly drawn in with the anticipation of sitting on the edge of my seat, waiting for the next pulsating scene.
